These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend
Don’t confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them
– Jackson Browne
The above lyrics caught me off-guard the first time I heard them during my last year of high school. I’m not sure why they resonated with me back then, but I sit and listen to the song today and appreciate the honesty within the words. I am grateful that we have different forms of art to help express our feelings, and I’m grateful that people like Jackson Browne are willing to share their art with the rest of the world. I sometimes think that words like these have healing powers, when heard at just the right time.
